Organization Is Key

Organization is key when it comes to optimizing space while setting up your home for your new bundle of joy! Even if you have minimal space, there are so many things you can do to make the most of what you have. Here are some of my favorite tools I used to keep my home organized and my mind at peace while caring for a newborn.

3-Tier Metal Utility Rolling Cart

This rolling cart is literally a postpartum LIFE SAVER!! And it is by far my favorite purchase I've made in preparing my home for baby's arrival. I stocked it full of diapers, wipes, burp cloths, pacifiers, creams, changing pads, and baby outfits for those quick emergencies. After my c-section, it was difficult for me to maneuver around my house, especially with a newborn in my arms. And when tragedy strikes (aka blowouts), it happens fast. So, I rolled this bad boy around everywhere we went, and everything I needed in a jam was right at my fingertips.

Extra Large Diaper Caddy

This versatile caddy has room for all your baby essentials, from diapers and wipes to toys and crafts. The zip-top cover keeps everything secure and dust-free, while the waterproof wet/dry bag adds extra convenience for on-the-go changes. With sturdy handles and a stylish design, this caddy is perfect for at home or out and about.

I initially had this bag added to my baby registry for my main diaper caddy around the house. But after I realized what a game-changer that rolling cart was (seriously I can't stop talking about it, I just love it so much), I turned this into our bath-time bag, and it is perfect for the job!

Cubby Organizer

My nursery has very limited closet space, and this cubby shelf fits in it perfectly! Paired with a few collapsible cloth storage cubes, this can be the perfect addition when you're setting up your baby's room. Amazon even offers multiple colors and sizes to fit your needs and style. This was easy to assemble and offers optimal organization for clothes, toys, books, and blankets.

Collapsible Fabric Storage Cubes

These storage cubes also have a variety of colors and designs to choose from. I looked through several different brands before choosing these, and I was not disappointed at all! These were among the least expensive choices I found, and they are a really great quality for the price. They are sturdy and hold their shape, and the handles are reinforced with metal grommets to avoid any distortion. I received one pack from my baby registry and ended up buying a second pack to fill the cubby shelf and have a few left over to use in my own closet (winning!)

Foldable Cloth Drawer Dividers

Baby clothes are so cute and little, aren't they? But all those adorable and tiny socks, hats, and mitts all thrown together in one dresser drawer can be such a headache to rummage through. These drawer organizers are perfect for separating those items to keep your drawers orderly and keep you sane in the membrane. Because let's be honest, when you're "folding" (ha! yeah right) your baby's laundry, sometimes matching those items up is just not what you want to do at the moment. So at most, you separate the socks from the mitts and throw them in the drawer to deal with later. Trust me, those cloth compartments will save you the extra trouble later on.

Adjustable Drawer Divider Organizers

These drawer dividers are also a great option for separating those tiny baby sleepers, t-shirts, pants, etc. Chances are you have a full-sized dresser picked out so that your child can use it for years to come. These dividers are a great way to break down those drawers into sections to help you keep baby's clothes organized and easy to find.

Closet Dividers for Baby Clothes

Here are those handy little closet dividers I mentioned in my book. They come in a variety of designs, and these were only $5! These stylish dividers help you organize your baby’s clothes from newborn to 24 months. Simply slide them onto your closet rod, and easily find the right size at a glance. These dividers not only keep things tidy but also add a charming touch to your nursery. No more digging through piles of tiny outfits—just sweet, simple organization that grows with your little one!

Decorative Storage Baskets

Did somebody say BASKETS?!?! If there's anything you need to know about me on a personal level, it's that I am OBSESSED with baskets. I love them, and I will stick everything that I own into them. But let's take a step back and focus on how these can help you! These versatile, woven cotton rope baskets are perfect for tidying up any room—use them to corral toys in the living room, store blankets in the bedroom, or keep laundry neat in the laundry room.  Sturdy yet soft, these baskets are gentle on delicate items but tough enough for everyday use. With these stylish organizers, transforming chaos into calm has never been easier!

Macrame Toy Hammock

Before my little girl was born, I was already overwhelmed with the amount of stuffed animals she had. Two reasons this was a great purchase for me: 1) it utilized an otherwise unusable space in the corner of her small room, and 2) I have two large dogs that LOVE to dismember any and all plushie toys. So having a safe place for them to hide out was by all means necessary.

Wall Mounted Floating Bookshelves

Children's books come in all different shapes and sizes, so trying to find a bookshelf to fit them all in an aesthetically pleasing way can be difficult. These bookshelves are great for saving space, and they look great! Plus, you can hang them lower on the wall so your little one can reach them one day... without worrying about bumping heads or shins on them.

Kids Bookshelf with Reading Nook

This reading nook / bookshelf duo is great for the nursery, living room, or playroom. The adjustable shelf provides space for books, toys, and more, while the cushioned seat invites little readers to settle in with their favorite stories. (Sidenote: why they did not call it a Book Nook, I'll never know... missed opportunity there!)

Both functional and stylish, this book nook is perfect for organization and relaxation. Set it up near the window and let your little one soak up some vitamin D while nuzzling down to read one of their favorite books. It's the ultimate blend of storage and comfort for little bookworms!

Reusable Silicone Cable/Cord Organizers

These might seem totally random, but I cannot tell you how many things I have used these for, and I love them!! These colorful, reusable cable organizers are perfect for taming the chaos of cords around the house. For all you pumping moms out there, these are GREAT for keeping your breast pump cords and tubes packed up neatly. I also use them for phone chargers, kitchen appliances, and computer cords. These straps keep everything neatly bundled and out of the way. Say goodbye to tangled messes in your diaper bag, purse, kitchen, or office. Keep your space (and your sanity) intact with these handy little lifesavers!
